Africa Day in Limerick's City Hall 2009

Limerick Gospel Choir at Africa Day Limerick 2009
Despite the Irish weather City Hall in Limerick moved to a more Sunny beat today.

As local members of the African Community put on a great show for the damp members of the public who battled the weather to be there.
With drumming demonstrations and ethnic food, poetry and gospel choirs as well as Bands on the stage in the grounds of City hall there was plenty to see. 'African Journey' Drumming with UCH, Facilitated by John Bowker and the Tribal Spirit team as particulary impressive with a great sound that filled the corridors of City Hall. The FAI were there also with Leo the Limerick FC Mascot and the GAA and Comogie Association were in attendance also as well as Munster Rugby.

Also in the Grounds was a street market that despite the weather managed to bring a far more exotic atmosphere to the day than the rain and cold would have. With Ethnic food available to sample and the sights and sounds from Rap to Jazz and more main stream acts like Mundy and Republic of Loose to take to the stage later people didn't seem to mind the Irish weather for once.
All in all I think that Africa Day in Limerick was a great success and showed people some of the diverse culture of those now living in our fair city.
